Finglas and Ballymun! – Free Recycling Days Sept 2023

Visit Your Community Electrical Recycling Day

Approximately 19.5 million WEEE appliances were collected for recycling by WEEE Ireland in 2022 including 113,000 fridges, 318,000 large household appliances and 225,000 TVs and monitors recycled safely. The equivalent of over 60 million used AA portable batteries were also prevented from ending up in landfills. This is great news and hopefully, we can continue this trend.

Your Home!

The average family home in Ireland is estimated to contain an average of 15 to 20 electrical items which have reached the end of their useful life, with new EU data indicating that each person is responsible for an average of 4kg to 5kg of hoarded electrical waste.

Most of us, at one time or another, have looked at forgotten corners of our homes or sheds and promised a clear out of the things we rarely, if ever, use. But the items we often inadvertently hoard represent much more than ‘clutter’ commanding valuable space in our living rooms, bedrooms
and kitchens.

Research shows that Irish homes contain an average of 15kg-20kg of electrical items which are lying idle. (Source: WEEE Ireland) – It may be time to clear out and declutter!
